A slow-reading gaming journal · Fitzroy

Games, unhurried.

We play slowly and write clearly. No launch-day noise, no scores out of ten — just considered reviews and long guides for the games worth your evenings.

How we read a game

Four unrushed passes before a word is published.

Every piece follows the same patient path. It takes longer, but it's the only way we know to write something still worth reading a year from now.

01

Full playthrough

We finish the game — credits and all — before forming an opinion. No hot takes from the first two hours.

02

Let it settle

A week away from the controller. What we still think about is usually what actually mattered.

03

Draft & fact-check

We write long, cut hard, and verify every mechanic, patch note and price against the current build.

04

Publish & revisit

Reviews get updated when a game changes. A verdict from launch shouldn't haunt a game two years on.

What we cover

Four columns, updated every week.

The only review site I trust to tell me a 40-hour RPG sags in the middle. Saved me from three full-price regrets last year alone.

Their boss guide for the winter update was clearer than the official wiki. Beat it on the second try after weeks of failing.

I found a tiny indie game through their spotlight column and it became my game of the year. No one else was writing about it.

They actually went back and updated a review after a big patch. That kind of honesty is rare and it's why I subscribed.

The Sunday essay is the one newsletter I never archive unread. Thoughtful writing about games without the shouting.

Came for a single Elden-like guide, stayed two years. It reads like a friend who happens to have finished everything.
